After going to visit Daddy's Little Princess, I left with our team to explore the village less than a 1/4 mile north (I think...) of the Home. It was very interesting to see how the people lived. The old men were playing checkers, dogs were running around, all of the homes had gates protecting them from unwanted visitors, and a small park (which was built during the Olympic Games, most villages around Beijing got something or other) where nannies were playing with some of the children. Every small space available was filled with some sort of vegetable or another. One lady had an arbor which pumpkin vines were growing on over the pathway to her home. I saw that largest beans ever and chickens were running all over the place.
After leaving the village, we went back to Hope Healing Home for some lunch and played with the kids. We went to Bei Wu for dinner (there were 10+ of us packed into a mini-van!). It was our first "real" Chinese dinner at a roadside restaurant. After returning to Hope Healing Home, we had a cake for the birthday and anniversary girls. It was a very beautiful cake with amazing candles. There was one large flame then it divided into many little flames like flower petals then, when the flame was blown out, it sang! It was very cool!
